In many Native American cultures, there is a the Medicine Wheel. A circular pattern that represents every part of life.

The end is the beginning

To pass through the rapids the students must sing the 5 notes of the song. The song has only 3 notes. The last 2 notes are just the song starting again. GEAGEAGEA on and on forever.
